Donald L. Weaver, MD

Summary of Career Accomplishments:
Don Weaver became a Senior Partner with Martin, Blanck & Associates in 2011 following a distinguished career of more than 35 years as a commissioned officer in the United States Public Health Service (USPHS).  He began his career there in 1975 as a National Health Service Corps (NHSC) volunteer physician.  After his service in Tooele, Utah, Dr. Weaver served in the Health Resources and Services Administration ‘s (HRSA) Regional and Central offices in positions of increasing responsibility, and subsequently served as the NHSC Director for 15 years. He retired as an Assistant Surgeon General of the USPHS.

From 2005 through 2010, Dr. Weaver was Deputy Associate Administrator for Primary Health Care, HRSA. During that time, he served in 2010 as Acting Director, Office of Special Health Affairs, HRSA.  In 2009, he served as Acting Surgeon General of the United States.  From 1989 through early 2005, he was Director, Division of National Health Service Corps, Bureau of Primary Health Care, Bureau of Health Professions, HRSA. From December 2003 through August 2004, Dr. Weaver served as Acting Director, Division of Medicine and Dentistry, Bureau of Health Professions, HRSA.

Additional Qualifications:
Dr. Weaver received his Bachelor of Arts summa cum laude from Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri. He is a graduate of Harvard Medical School and completed a two-year pediatric residency at Boston's Children's Hospital Medical Center.  He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine.
